About the founder:
My name is Mariner Price. My life in golf began in 1989 as a caddy at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, OK. At 12 I had no knowledge or understanding of the game of golf. All I knew was the feeling I got every time I stepped onto those pristine greens and smelled the fresh cut grass at the start of another day on the links. Little did I know, that feeling would inspire and shape my entire professional life.
“To design or to build?”
I attended Texas A&M University with visions of a degree in golf course & landscape architecture. It wasn’t until 1999, when I accepted an internship at Briarcrest Country Club in Bryan, TX, that I realized what was missing in my studies. I didn’t want to draw it. I wanted to build it! The Briarcrest job was an in-house (total) 9-hole renovation and I got the fever!
Experience:
In 2000 I accepted an internship with Landscapes Unlimited, Inc to build a brand new Gary Player course in The Woodlands. I was hands-on in every piece of the construction process. (i.e. clearing, staking, GPS-ing, lasering, rough shaping, drainage installation, and irrigation.) This job pushed me into the profession I belonged, golf course construction.
I graduated from Texas A&M in the spring of 2001 in turf grass management and went directly to work for Landscapes Unlimited. From 2001-2004 I served as an assistant superintendent on a number of projects from NY to Houston.
I sharpened my skills in new construction over the next 6 years working for Oliphant Golf and then Heritage Links.
In late 2009 the economy wiped out, drastically diminishing the number of new courses being built. It was then I realized the ongoing need for renovation and repair. By utilizing the skills I had learned from the best of the best, I could carve out a perfect niche.
Graham Golf, LLC was founded in the summer of 2008. We have grown every year by doing what we do best…Keeping Greater Houston’s finest links in top condition.
